This episode of “Our Town” showcases special interpretive moments of Mikis Theodorakis.
The great composer uniquely performed some of his own songs — in concerts, in the studio, with small or large orchestras, and at times on the historic piano in Nea Smyrni.
The broadcast features some of the finest examples of this lesser-known side of the composer: a significant and deeply personal poetic interpretation, from his very first appearance as a singer (Lipotaktes) to rare recordings of his songs.
