Listen to the statements and speech by the Minister of Labour, Ms. Niki Kerameus, during the presentation of the study–book by Gabriel Amitsis, professor at the University of West Attica, an initiative of the Seamen’s Pension Fund (NAT).
Ms. Kerameus expressed her satisfaction with the initiative of the Seamen’s Pension Fund, which, as she noted,“highlights once again, and in a well-documented way, the role of women in shipping, offering modern tools that support a more equal and sustainable labour market.”
As she emphasized, Greece has one of the highest rates of female maritime employment worldwide, reaching 7.8%, while the European average stands at 2.4% and the global average at 1.2%.
The study was presented on Tuesday, November 25, at an event organized by NAT at the Historic Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in Piraeus, as part of the Fund’s initiatives to strengthen and develop the human resources of Greek shipping, and the radio program “Fair Winds and Following Seas” was there and recorded the event.
