The program “Take Your Time”, hosted by Prokopis Agelopoulos, welcomed to the studio Nikolaos Ioannidis, President of the Greek Community of Viersen and Surrounding Areas. Mr. Ioannidis left Greece during the years of the financial crisis and moved to Germany, where he spoke about his life as an immigrant, the challenges of adapting to a new country, and the extensive work he has undertaken within the Greek community of Viersen.
The President of the Greek Community of Viersen and Surrounding Areas has built a long-standing and multifaceted presence in the fields of sports, volunteerism, social contribution, and the Greek diaspora, through positions of significant administrative, voluntary, and professional responsibility. For more than thirty years, he was actively involved in the Greek Scouts, where he embraced and promoted the values of service, responsibility, teamwork, solidarity, and respect for others.
In Germany, he works in elderly care, at a long-term care facility. Since 2021, he has served as President of the Greek Community of Viersen and Surrounding Areas. During his tenure, the Community has developed a strong cultural, social, and charitable presence, organizing cultural events, national celebrations, solidarity initiatives, conferences, charity campaigns, and programs supporting institutions in both Greece and Germany.
Through these efforts, the Community has strengthened the presence and visibility of the Greek diaspora across the wider Viersen district.
