Nikos Zournis on “Voices and Music” | 04 Mar. 2026

On this episode of “Voices and Music” we met a creator who combines the sensitivity of a singer-songwriter with the curiosity of a musical traveler.

Nikos Zournis spoke about his journey from Aspra Spitia in Boeotia to his present-day presence in contemporary Greek discography. He shared stories from his first musical explorations, his studies in Musicology, and the important collaborations that have shaped his path with composers and performers of the Greek song tradition.

A special part of the discussion focused on his meeting with the great lyricist Manos Eleftheriou, an experience that left a deep mark on his thinking and creative work.

The occasion for his appearance on the program was his new album “Mesodytika”, a musical journey that begins in Athens and moves toward mainland Greece, searching for sounds that bridge tradition and contemporary musical expression. The album was recorded live in the studio, preserving the immediacy and authenticity of the moment. We also spoke about his ongoing artistic collaboration with singer Dina Skebri, his relationship with poetry, and how song can still serve as a place of encounter, memory, and emotion.
