Sub-Lieutenant Giorgos Moschoutis on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” | 11 June 2025

Sub-Lieutenant Captain Giorgos Moschoutis from Sifnos speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.

He has just completed his training at KESEN (Centre for Further Education of Merchant Marine Officers) and is now waiting to embark on a new voyage in the coming days.

After initially passing the national university entrance exams and enrolling in a different academic field, he quickly realized it wasn’t for him and changed course—choosing the path of the sea.

Since 2015, he has been working in the maritime sector. His first voyage was as a steward on the ferry M/V Blue Orizon, then he graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of Syros (AEN Syrou), and later served aboard the tanker M/V Vera.

“Shipping has no limits if one truly wants to be part of it. It offers countless opportunities, as long as you love the profession and pursue it,” says Captain Giorgis. He goes on to add, “The sea is a beautiful adventure. It allows you to broaden your horizons and your knowledge, to earn money, make connections, gain experience—and so much more.”
