The second part of “Our Town”’s tribute to Charlie Parker and Julio Cortázar with be broadcast on Monday, June 24th, with guest the distinguished composer and double bassist Petros Klampanis
Charlie Parker was one of the most important African-American jazz musicians, making a strong mark as a musician and saxophonist. He was instrumental in shaping the bebop along with the great Dizzy Gillespie. Parker’s “star” moved the great Latin American writer Julio Cortázar, who wrote a book about him entitled “The Hunter”, from which excerpts were heard.
In addition to feature essays on these two great artistic personalities, the show also featured Parker’s music from his major collaborations.
