On Thursday, September 18, 2025, our program hosted the mayor of Keratsini-Drapetsona, Christos Vrettakos, on the occasion of the day of remembrance marking 12 years since the murder of Pavlos Fyssas by members of the criminal organization Golden Dawn. We then reviewed the newspaper front pages and, shortly before 11:00, connected live with Servia, Kozani, where ERT journalist Despina Amarantidou updated us on the temporary closure of the bridge due to maintenance works.
In the second hour, we connected with Serres, where ERA Serres journalist Thalia Kampouridou reported on the 10th SEREXPO exhibition, the major celebration of entrepreneurship held at the “Christos Megklas” Business Center of the Serres Chamber of Commerce. This year’s honored country is Romania. The exhibition opened on Wednesday, September 17, and will conclude on Sunday, September 21.
We then traveled to faraway Australia and spoke with Themis Kallos, journalist at SBS, about the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Basketball Tournament, which this year takes place in the country with its large Greek community, just before the tip-off between Panathinaikos and Partizan Belgrade. We also listened to a short excerpt from an interview given by Fragiskos Alvertis to the director of SBS’s Greek service.
In the final part of the program, our guest in the studio was Konstantinos Christodoulakis, a Greek professional who has been living and working for the past eight years in Brussels, in the fields of IT and Knowledge Management. He spoke about his decision to leave Greece during the years of the financial crisis, the difficulties he faced there, especially during the pandemic, and the differences between Athens and Brussels in terms of cost of living, salaries, and everyday life. He explained why, under the present circumstances, it is very difficult for him and his family to return to Greece, and he took us on a journey to his beloved homeland of Karpathos, and his village of Volada, where his brother serves as the priest and heart of the local community.
We wrapped up with Vicky Spyrou and the sports news.
