Ju-Seong Lim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Greece, visited the Voice of Greece studio during the Posidonia 2026 international shipping exhibition and spoke on “Fair Winds and Following Seas.” Among other topics, he expressed his admiration for the scale of the exhibition and the wide range of parallel events organized as part of Posidonia.
Reflecting on the longstanding ties between Greece and the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Lim noted that his country remains grateful to Greece for two reasons: first, for sending more than 10,000 Greek soldiers to fight in the Korean War, even before the two countries established diplomatic relations; and second, for the close partnership the two nations have built in the shipbuilding industry. He recalled that the first vessel built at a Korean shipyard for a Greek shipowner was commissioned by Stavros Livanos in 1971. “For the past 55 years, we have moved forward together in this field,” he said. “From the bottom of my heart, I can say that Greeks and Koreans are deeply connected.”
Speaking about the future of the maritime sector, Ambassador Lim stressed the importance of engaging younger generations, noting that shipping has a great need for young people.
