Thanasis Samaras was one of the first to bring stand-up comedy to Greece – and he’s probably the only comedian in the world who also drives a taxi. In this episode, he trades the streets of Athens for a ride through Thessaloniki with the Thermaic Gulf as a backdrop. He talks about juggling his two worlds, looks back on his first steps in comedy, and shares funny stories from both the road and the stage.
The podcast is part of the series Taxi: Stories from the Back Seat.

Istorima is the largest oral history project in Greece. Over 1,000 young researchers seek out storytellers across the country, listening to and preserving memories: stories of love, of place, of change – moments that shaped lives and identities. These are the untold stories that history books leave behind. The initiative was created by journalist Sofia Papaioannou.
