“Alexandra Prochenko-Pisatzi: “”Every person loses something in their life and starts all over again.””
Words spoken by the President of the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine. Mrs. Prochenko joins the “”Voice of Greece””, this Thursday, May 19th on the show “”The Voice that Unites Us”” with Gianna Triantafylli.
She talks about the 30,000 dead in devastated Mariupol and also about the 300 dead children of the war. “”Only peace can save us””, argued Mrs. Prochenko.
The “”Mother of Hellenism of Ukraine”” as she has been dubbed, speaks about the 48 Greek villages and the residents of Greek origin who have stayed there and are trying to heal their wounds through the pain and distress and also to survive in the new conditions that have been imposed on them.
As she says, most of the Greek buildings in Mariupol have been completely destroyed. The remaining Greeks are trying to salvage part of the archives of the Cultural Centre, which is under Russian occupation. The library did not burn down, but its books, the wealth of the Hellenism of Azov, are scattered, and Mrs. Prochenko’s associates are trying to save them.
In addition, she talks about her cooperation with the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, for the implementation of programs at Greek summer camps to accommodate refugee children from Ukraine during the summer.
“”Greece has always been on our side””, Mrs.Prochenko stressed and appealed for help to be provided in any way possible to the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine, so that it could have an office in Thessaloniki, a place for its members who are in Greece to meet and find support.
“”The best years of my life, 35 whole years, are dedicated to Hellenism and to the effort to keep us all united. When all Greeks are united, Hellenism has great strength!”” concluded the president of the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine.”
