“Faraway words” with Roma Siachos from Melbourne | 10.18.22

The “Voice of Greece” had as a guest Roma Siachos, a Greek expatriate living in Australia and one of the most active members of the Pontic Greek Diaspora community in Melbourne. The guest has had a dynamic career, from the march to the Turkish Consulate in Melbourne, to the painting competition about the Pontic Genocide. This passion stems from memories of Pontus, her grandfather, and other relatives. Ms. Siachos spoke to Natasa Vissarionos and Giannis-Stelios Tzirvelakis about the current composition of the Pontic and in general, Greek associations in Australia, the efforts they are making not only for the recognition of the Genocide but also for the continuation of the Pontic tradition from generation to generation, while she also shared her story, from Kazakhstan to Katerini, Athens and finally Melbourne.
