Athanasios Tsouchantaris, a Greek-Australian entrepreneur from Melbourne, spoke on Voice of Greece radio and the show “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis about the demands of the Greek diaspora in Australia. He emphasized the need for signing a double taxation avoidance agreement between Greece and Australia, mutual access of citizens from both countries to each other’s public healthcare systems, and strengthening the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) presence through the establishment of new offices.
Mr. Tsouchantaris, who was a candidate for New Democracy in the European elections, also highlighted the necessity of reinforcing Greece’s trade attachés in Australia and beyond. He expressed confidence that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis would address these issues upon receiving the relevant requests. Additionally, he commented on the political landscape in Australia, which is holding elections this year, as well as in Greece, stressing that the judiciary must determine accountability for the mistakes and omissions that led to the Tempi train disaster.
