Sotiris Delis, former member of the Swedish Parliament, spoke on Voice of Greece and the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis about the challenges faced by himself and other Greek expatriates who wish for their children—Greek citizens—to obtain a Tax Identification Number (AFM) in order to issue the new national ID cards.
Mr. Delis listed several obstacles he encountered, such as receiving three different answers from three offices of the same public service, and being advised by civil servants to seek help from lawyers and accountants to navigate digital and administrative procedures.
He stressed that such difficulties do little to strengthen the connection between younger generations of the Greek diaspora and Greece.
