Re-elected Australian federal MP Steve (Stathis) Georganas visited the studio of Voice of Greece and spoke with Dimitris Kontogiannis on the program “Our Global Voice”.
He shared the story of his own family and paid tribute to the early Greek migrants who paved the way in Australia. Emphasizing the importance of cultural continuity, he stressed how vital it is for third- and fourth-generation Greek-Australian youth to visit Greece and strengthen their connection to their roots.
As Vice President of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA), Mr. Georganas also highlighted the need for student exchange programs between schools in Greece and Australia—programs that could help forge lasting ties among younger generations, at a time when the early pioneers are either gone or nearing the end of their lives.
