On 20 June 2025, historian and leading researcher of the Greek diaspora, Professor Emeritus Anastasios Tamis, spoke on Voice of Greece and the radio show “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis, reflecting on the remarkable life of Zisis Dardalis.
Orphaned at a young age, Zisis Dardalis migrated to Australia in the 1950s and, through perseverance and hard work, rose to become a successful businessman and, as Tamis described him, “the greatest benefactor of the Greek diaspora” in Australia Professor Tamis offered an in-depth account of Dardalis’s extensive philanthropic contributions — from supporting Greek-Australian sports clubs such as South Melbourne Hellas and Megas Alexandros, to funding initiatives in education and elderly care. A generous portion of his business profits was consistently directed toward these causes, making a lasting impact on the Greek community in Australia.
