Dimitrios Christo, who was adopted at the age of three by a Greek-American family in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), shared his adoption story and his recent reunion with his biological mother in Greece, in an interview on Voice of Greece and the program “Our Global Voice” with host Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Christo explained that, for years, he searched for his birth mother but constantly ran into dead ends. He had almost lost hope — until a breakthrough came with the help of the Eftychia Project. He learned of his biological mother’s existence, along with the fact that he had siblings, the very next day after the 40-day memorial service for his adoptive mother.
Unaware that he even had brothers or sisters, Mr. Christo was struck by a powerful coincidence: his adoption date — 30 March — was the exact date of the memorial.
“We say that Mary, my adoptive mother, was lighting the way. I truly believe that. I believe my mother Mary helped us,” he concluded.
