On Friday, September 5, 2025, the program opened with a live connection from the slopes of Cithaeron with Andreas Gkikas, member of the Attica Wine Producers Association, who informed us about how the grape harvest is progressing this year, with late grapes and a relatively good yield, while also speaking about the problems in the sector. Immediately after the newspaper headlines, we welcomed in the studio journalist Alexandra Christakaki, with whom we discussed her book “Στα σπλάχνα της Σερίφου” (In the Bowels of Serifos), which unfolds the life stories of the island’s miners during the 1950s and early 1960s, until 1964-65, when the mines closed. These are stories of a harsh life, in the aftermath of the events of 1916 that led to the establishment of the eight-hour working day, but also stories that still impact the island’s development today, as well as land claims by the alleged descendants of the mining contractors. The book is published by Pyxida tis Polis.
In the second hour, following the international news, we spoke with lawyer Kostas Papadakis about the Golden Dawn trial, which continues in the appeals court in the coming days. We also discussed the case of the tavern Axiοtissa in Naxos, after a smear campaign was launched against it, triggered by an incident involving British tourists of Jewish origin, who protested against stickers with the Palestinian flag displayed in the establishment.
In the final part of the program, we focused on research in Greece and the need for “brain regain,” with guest in the studio professor Alexandros Stamatakis of the Institute of Technology and Research, on the occasion of the European ERA Chairs programs, which fund research positions in EU member states that are lagging in this field. Just before the sports news, we connected with Babis Batmanidis from the music group Babis Batmanidis Company, who, along with the other members of the band, will perform songs from the emblematic film by Stavros Tsiolis, “Let the Women Wait”, at the screening of the film to be held on Sunday evening, September 7, at Technopolis City of Athens, a special event dedicated to the film.
