Stathis (Steve) Georganas, a federal MP of Australia, spoke about the main topics he discussed with Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Loverdos, who is currently visiting Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania. These included the signing of a bilateral agreement to avoid double taxation between Greece and Australia, as well as an agreement on mutual health insurance coverage for Greeks visiting Australia and Australians visiting Greece. He made these remarks on the radio program “Our Global Voice” on Voice of Greece, hosted by Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Georganas also emphasized that the twinning of Athens with Adelaide is progressing following the signing of the relevant memorandum, and the mayor of Adelaide is planning to visit Athens for this purpose, just as the mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, plans to visit the Australian city. He also mentioned the invitation from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis for an official visit to Oceania, which is expected to take place in 2026.
