Dimitris Karkamanis, who has been living in Sweden since 1969, an economist and lay judge at the Stockholm Court of Appeal, spoke about Sweden’s social and economic situation, its stance on migration, and the upcoming general elections in September. He was interviewed on the radio of Voice of Greece, on the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Karkamanis, who is also a political scientist, offered his own explanation as to why the Social Democratic Party of Sweden — which leads in the polls — remains strong, at a time when similar parties in other Western European countries are struggling. He also discussed the Swedish position toward Russia and NATO, as well as the prevailing view in the Scandinavian country regarding U.S. President Donald Trump.
