The program “Take Your Time”, hosted by Prokopis Agelopoulos, welcomed distinguished director Dimos Avdeliodis to the studio, on the occasion of Georgios Vizyenos’ autobiographical work “My Mother’s Sin”, currently staged at the Omega Stage of the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus.
In addition to Mr Avdeliodis, who signs the acclaimed direction, the program also featured a phone interview with actor Themistoklis Karpodinis, who stars alongside Mairi Vidal.
The work explores the exemplary and ultimately redemptive way in which Vizyenos confronted the rejection he experienced from his mother at a very young age. Seeking to understand the roots of his trauma, he places himself in her position in order to grasp her motives. He comes to understand her “sin” and the deeper causes of the pain and torment of her soul. This understanding brings about calm, forgiveness, and catharsis—leading to his liberation.
