On Thursday, 1 October 2026, following a review of current affairs and newspaper headlines, we discussed international developments with Ivana Djordjevic. We then examined the situation in the fuel market following the prime minister’s announcement of new measures, with Giorgos Asmatoglou, president of the Federation of Fuel Retailers.
In the second hour, Anastasia Bakogianni, Senior Lecturer in Classical Studies at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand, joined us in the Voice of Greece studio. She spoke about her journey from Chalandri to England and then, in 2016, to New Zealand. She discussed her life there and her connections with New Zealanders, her students, and the country’s Greek community.
We then spoke by phone with 15-year-old Marina Tsimachidou, a member of Greece’s national rhythmic gymnastics team, who is preparing to leave in the coming days to represent Greece at the Balkan Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Istanbul, taking place from 9 to 11 October. Marina has already achieved significant success in competitions in Greece and abroad. Among her career highlights are the 2024 Mediterranean Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Tunisia, where she won two medals: one silver and one bronze.
The program concluded with sports news presented by Tasos Antoninis.
