Dimos Siokis, President of the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York, spoke about the anniversary of the Greek War of Independence and the preparations for the major parade on Fifth Avenue, which will take place this year on 26 April. He was speaking on the radio of Voice of Greece, on the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Siokis noted that the parade has been held in New York for 80 years and costs approximately half a million dollars. Numerous events are organized in order to raise the necessary funds. The President of this year’s parade committee is businessman Lou Katsos. The Grand Marshals of the parade will be Nikos Tsakos of the well-known shipping company, the Hellenic Initiative, and the Bornozis brothers of Capital Link.
