Giannis Remediakis from Houston, Texas on “Our Global Voice” | 12 Feb. 2026

Giannis Remediakis, a Greek-American entrepreneur and President of the Hellenic Cultural Center of the South-Western States, based in Houston, explained the rationale behind organizing 60 lectures on Ancient Greek philosophy as part of the ongoing “Eternal Wisdom” series. He spoke on Voice of Greece radio, on the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.

Mr. Remediakis noted that approximately 196,000 people of Greek descent live in the greater Houston area, which is geographically very large. For this reason, the organizers opted for online lectures to ensure broader participation from across the region. The next event, focusing on women in ancient tragedy, will take place on 07 March, followed by an even more significant lecture on 22 March entitled “Ignorance Is a Sin.”

Recently, the Hellenic Cultural Center for the South-West organized an event marking World Greek Language Day, highlighting Koine Greek — the first global language, dating back to the era of Alexander the Great.
