Georgios Teriakidis on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” | 17 June 2026

Georgios Teriakidis, Regional Manager for Southeast Europe at the Norwegian classification society DNV, speaks to “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.

He discusses the importance of Posidonia 2026 and the various conferences held alongside the exhibition, which provide opportunities for the maritime community to exchange views, ideas, and industry trends, establish new partnerships, and strengthen professional connections.

Mr. Teriakidis also emphasizes that:

“Here in Athens and Piraeus, within a metropolitan area of more than four million people, there is a remarkable concentration of shipping companies, maritime services, and professions connected to the maritime sector. Discussions and exchanges of ideas take place every day on a wide range of issues, and that is beneficial for the country’s market. There is strong communication and cooperation across the industry. When shipping grows, other sectors and professions linked to it grow as well, which benefits the economy as a whole. We should also recognize the value of Greece’s educational institutions, which produce highly capable professionals and officers who are quickly absorbed by the industry.”

Speaking about the Greek merchant fleet, one of the world’s leading maritime forces, he notes:

“No successful industry reaches the top by chance. Success comes through hard work, dedication, and persistence. Shipping has achieved its position through sustained effort, and we should never forget that. We are on the right path and living through a very positive period. Greek shipping has demonstrated its resilience, expertise, and strength of character, and it must continue in the same direction.”
