Dr. Nikolaos Rigas, a distinguished neurologist, psychiatrist, child psychiatrist, and psychotherapist with extensive involvement in medicine, academia, Greek diaspora affairs, and politics, visited the Voice of Greece studio.
Dr. Rigas spoke about his career in medicine, life in Germany during the 1980s and 1990s, his ties to the Greek community, and living conditions in the country today.
He founded a medical center in Adenauerplatz, central Berlin, where he provides medical care to Greeks from various parts of Greece and Germany.
Dr. Rigas also served as vice president of the Greek Community of Berlin and was responsible for “Ηχώ του Βερολίνου,” the first Greek newspaper published in reunified Berlin.
Drawing on his book “Δημοκρατία εκτός συνόρων – Σκέψεις για την Ελλάδα, τη Διασπορά και τη δημοκρατική ευθύνη,” he discussed the needs of Greeks living abroad today, the importance of stronger connections among Greek communities around the world, and their ties to the homeland.
