Academic and poet Valia Tsaita-Tsilimeni, a permanent resident of Geneva, visited the Voice of Greece studio.
Tsaita-Tsilimeni graduated from the Department of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s Faculty of Philosophy. She completed her postgraduate studies at Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV) and is a lecturer in Modern Greek Studies at the University of Geneva’s Faculty of Arts, where she teaches literature, language, and translation.
Alongside her academic work, she is also involved in poetry, translation, and photography. Her first poetry collection, “Άγρια χόρτα,” was published by Kichli in 2017 and received the Jean Moréas Award for a first-time poet. It was also nominated for the O Anagnostis literary magazine award for 2017–2018 and the Hellenic Authors’ Society’s Giannis Varveris Award in 2018.
On the program, she spoke about life in Geneva, her ties to the local Greek community, her courses and students, and her latest poetry collection, “Είδη πρώτης ανάγκης,” published by Kedros.
