Dr. Korina Giaxoglou on “Greece in the United Kingdom” | 23 Feb. 2025, 10:00

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM Athens time, the show “Greece in the United Kingdom” with Eliana Nunes, will feature linguist Korina Giaxoglou. Dr. Giaxoglou is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and English Language at The Open University, UK. She has also taught at King’s College London, Kingston University London, and Goldsmiths University.

Her teaching and research focus on the study of language, narrative, and emotions, with an emphasis on the expression of grief: from oral poetry and mourning rituals, to Maniat laments during the occupation of Greece and the Greek Civil War, and modern stories and narratives of grief and illness shared through social media.

She has authored the book ‘A Narrative Approach to Social Media Mourning: Small Stories and Affective Positioning’ (Routledge, 2020).

On the show “Greece in the United Kingdom,” Dr. Korina Giaxoglou will analyse the expression of grief in the contemporary context, with reference to the deadly Tempi train crash in 2023.
