”Our Town” tribute to Maria Callas” | 03.12.2023, 12.00

On Sunday, December 3, 12:00-14:00 Greece local time (rerun on Monday, December 4, at 01:00-03:00), the show “Our Town” features a tribute to Maria Callas, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth.

The show focuses on important moments of the artistic career of the leading soprano in the field of the opera, as she enchanted opera fans around the world, deservedly earning her title with her vocal and acting performances.

The show also features special audio recordings from interviews, rehearsals, and performances with her teacher, great opera singer Elvira De Hidalgo, who had been a guardian angel of Callas throughout her career, from her childhood onwards.

Alexandros Charkiolakis, musicologist, director of the “Friends of Music Society”, key collaborator of the Maria Callas museum, Christos Papageorgiou, composer, musician, radio producer of the Third Program, Dimitris Pyromallis, collector, creator of the exhibition showcasing rare material at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and George Chronas, poet, publisher, also speak on the show.
