Danai Loukaki: “I Became an Actress Through Theater, Not Drama School” | 12 Dec. 2024

In the second hour of the program “Take Your Time,” Voice of Greece welcomed Danai Loukaki, the talented actress currently starring in the popular ERT series “Electra” and the theatrical farce “On the Edge” by Dimitra Papadopoulou, performed in Thessaloniki and set to tour Athens after January 10.

The beloved star shared her journey into acting, which began after studying directing on a scholarship in London. With the support of her family, she transitioned to theater, graduating from the Art Theater School in 2016. Before embracing acting, Loukaki excelled in sports, particularly canoe-kayak, achieving significant success.

She reflected on her collaborations with renowned artists like Vasilis Papavasileiou, Lydia Koniordou, Angela Brouskou, Lena Kitsopoulou, Pantelis Dentakis, and Nikos Karathanos. Loukaki spoke candidly about the demands of her profession, especially during her current schedule of weekly travels between Athens and Thessaloniki, and the uncertainties of the field.

However, she emphasized the importance of stability, such as her work on “Electra” with ERT, and expressed admiration for her collaboration with Dimitra Papadopoulou. Loukaki also admitted that the pressures of her career often leave her personal life on the back burner.
