On the show, Maestro Themis Samantzis, conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Tyrnavos and the “Heraklides” Choir of Platamonas, was featured. He was the artistic director and curator of the concert presented in Budapest to mark the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Mr. Samantzis spoke about the event, which was warmly embraced by the Greek community of Budapest, and also shared his emotional connection with the island of Aphrodite. His late father, Konstantinos Samantzis, served as a permanent non-commissioned officer in the Greek Armed Forces in Cyprus and lived through the Turkish invasion on the front lines.
