The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security, Kostas Karagounis, was hosted on the show “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos, discussing the REBRAIN GREECE platform and the government’s efforts to repatriate Greeks who left the country.
As Mr. Karagounis stated, “In looking at post-memorandum Greece, there are hundreds of thousands of Greeks who left for abroad. According to ELSTAT data, of the 600,000, perhaps half have returned,” adding that there is a significant need to fill technical specialties, and a tremendous effort is being made in close cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Education.
He also pointed out that “we have a major problem with high-level skills, as brilliant minds left for abroad during the crisis,” emphasizing that “our goal is for these brilliant minds to return to the country.” Additionally, he noted that “there are 2,100 registrations on the platform, with 90 percent of them being very strong resumes, and over 200 companies have joined. Currently, there are 450 open positions for high-skill and specialty jobs, which are updated daily, while there are more than 1,500 interested candidates,” concluded the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security.
