On August 13, 2024, the show “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos welcomed Dr. Kyriaki Sonidou, the Director of Primary Health Care in London and Vice-President of the Greek Scientists Association. Dr. Sonidou discussed the UK’s National Health Service and the recent anti-immigration protests that have stirred unrest.
Having lived in the UK for 17 years, Dr. Sonidou has a distinguished career. She graduated from the Ionian School of Piraeus and earned her medical degree with honors from Carol Davila University in Bucharest. She also holds an LLB from Mihai Eminescu University and an MSc in Family and General Medicine from the University of Crete.
Her career includes research in Cardiology in Athens and teaching roles in London.
Since moving to London in 2008, she has worked as a Professor of Gastroenterology at Ealing Hospital. Her contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the title of Goodwill Ambassador for Health Diplomacy by the Greek Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in January 2019. She has served as President of the Greek Medical Society of the UK and Vice-President of the Greek Professionals and Scientists Society.
Dr. Sonidou’s work has been honored by the Foundation of Ecumenical Hellenism, highlighting her commitment to the Greek diaspora and the preservation of Greek identity.
