“Saturday Watch,“ the special, two-hour ‘weekend edition’ of the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis, honors International Women’s Day with a two-hour broadcast dedicated to the role and contributions of women in shipping.
The show’s guests are:
- Marina Papaioannou, Regional Director of the DNV Academies for Southeast Europe,
- Maria Boile, Professor at the University of Piraeus, Department of Maritime Studies – Director of the Master’s Program in Shipping and Coordinator of the European Technology Platform for Maritime Transport,
- Eirini Notia, Founder of Project Connect and the Adopt a Ship program, and
- Aphrodite Korexanou, Third Engineer in the Merchant Navy – Coastal Shipping.
Each guest discusses their field and role in the shipping industry, as well as any challenges they faced at the beginning of their careers in what was traditionally a male-dominated sector. They share the initiatives they have undertaken, inspired by the industry, and their vision for the future of women in a field full of ever-emerging opportunities.
