On Thursday, February 6, 2025, we welcomed Ms. Afroditi Xydi, an Environmental Engineer and Executive Director of the DEON Institute, the first Think Tank established by Greek expatriates aiming to bridge the gap between the Greek diaspora and policymakers at the decision-making centers. Among other topics, she spoke about the Institute’s initiatives to document Greek-origin academics in the U.S., efforts to ease the return of Greek professionals from around the world, and discussions around a “talent visa”—a proposal that could facilitate the relocation of scientists from the top 100 universities globally to Greece.
Later, we connected live with Kythnos, speaking with the island’s mayor, Stamatis Garderis, about the issues caused by the suspension of ferry routes to Piraeus for the past two months, affecting connections with the western Cyclades.
During the second hour, journalist Panagiotis Mytilineos joined us from Santorini, providing updates on the seismic activity northeast of the island and the government’s protective measures for residents, as all scenarios remain open.
In the final segment, we hosted singer-songwriter Katerina Kyrmizi in the studio, diving into her artistic journey and enjoying some of her most beautiful songs.
