On the Friday, October 4th, 2024 episode, we discussed politics and international affairs with Antonis Papagiannidis, journalist and lawyer, and Chrysostomos Loukas, journalist and international analyst.
Right after 11:00, our guest in the studio was Eleanna Pitsikaki, the young musician from Crete, a virtuoso of the traditional kanun, who lives and works in Germany and is currently in Greece to participate in Evanthia Reboutsika’s concert titled “Bridges” at the Herodeion.
In the last part of the show, Iasonas Apostolopoulos joined us in the studio of Voice of Greece. The well-known refugee rescuer and human rights activist talked about his decision to engage in solidarity actions from a young age, participating in neighborhood collectives in Agia Paraskevi, his response to the call for rescue operations in Lesvos since 2015, and his current involvement in rescue missions with the ship Mare Ionio, where he acts as a rescue coordinator.
He shared with us that he and the other crew members are already heading to Italy to participate in refugee rescue operations, continuing their efforts to save as many lives as possible of those risking everything in search of a new homeland, far from war zones and areas where human rights are violated.
He also discussed the new situation developing with the war in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, criticizing the policies of European governments, who view the tragedy of war solely through the lens of the refugee problem and adopt pushback tactics instead of a humanitarian approach.
