Filmmaker/visual artist Julia Speropoulos on “Take Your Time” | 03 Oct. 2025

Greek-American artist Julia Speropoulos was a guest on “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos, speaking live in the studio of Voice of Greece.

Julia Speropoulos is a filmmaker, producer, and actress. Born in Miami, USA, she is a graduate of Florida International University (B.A. in Theater) and has also studied at the New York Film Academy in New York. With a twenty-year career in acting—both on stage and on screen—she has starred in theatrical and television productions in Greece and abroad.

At the same time, her visual art has earned international recognition from a young age. Over the past decade, she has focused systematically on film directing, screenwriting, and production. Her directorial debut, Jean, won the Best New Director Award at the 4th Ierapetra International Film Festival and was screened internationally. It was followed by Yubi, which also earned awards and official selections at leading festivals.

Her feature-length creative documentary 2 Miles From Home won the Best Feature Documentary Award at the Ierapetra Documentary Festival and was showcased at major festivals in Greece and abroad. As a producer, Speropoulos has collaborated with ERT and Cosmote TV. Her most recent work, the short animated film Agapi (Love), received the Maracuja Global Initiative Award at the Palm Springs International Animation Festival.
