The program “Take Your Time”, hosted by Prokopis Agelopoulos, welcomed to the Voice of Greece studio the musician and performer Kalliroi Raouzaiou, who has been living and creating in Marseille for the past 16 years.
She spoke about her upcoming project, which she plans to record after Easter with French musicians, featuring songs with Greek lyrics. She also discussed her deep connection to the French musical tradition, her research into early recordings of rebetiko and beyond—drawing inspiration to incorporate into her own work—as well as her future artistic plans. The program also featured four of her favorite songs.
Kalliroi Raouzaiou is a multifaceted Greek singer, pianist and composer. She studied at the Pallini Music School, piano and harmony at the National Conservatory, musicology at the Ionian University, and acting at the Athens Theatre of G. Theodosiadis. Her artistic path brings together elements of Greek musical tradition, jazz and Portuguese fado, shaping a distinctive personal sound. A notable example is her project “Fado Rebetiko”, which builds a bridge between rebetiko and fado.
Beyond performance, she composes music for theatre productions in both Greece and France. With a rich discography and collaborations with international artists, she continues to perform at major venues and festivals.
