Kaimaktsalan – Aspropotamos (Pindos)
We return for a second time to discuss two regions of Western Macedonia and the latest developments concerning the hydroelectric project in Aspropotamos, as well as the large-scale wind and solar energy installations threatening the untouched ecosystem, the villages, and the local communities around Kaimaktsalan.
Regarding Aspropotamos and the legal appeal to the Council of State, the bulldozers at the Chaliki site, and ongoing developments in Desi and Polythea, we speak with Christos Teleionis, technical systems consultant, and Stefanos Ntinas, electrical engineer from Chaliki, both active members of the “Living Aspropotamos” initiative.
On the situation in Kaimaktsalan, we are joined by Maria Gaigani, journalist, and Antonia Bragianni, civil engineer—both residents of Meliti and members of the “Kaimaktsalan Blockade” initiative.
The local communities impacted include Skopos, Achlada, Meliti, Sitaria Kelli, Lofos Vevis, Agios Panteleimonas, and Petres.
Actions taken so far include meetings with the municipalities of Florina and Amyntaio, a signature campaign, a public assembly with the participation of political figures, and a meeting with the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia.
Thank you for listening.
