Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 07 Aug. 2026

On the program on Friday, August 7, 2026, following a look at current affairs through online and newspaper headlines, we spoke with Kimon Hadjibiros, Professor Emeritus at the National Technical University of Athens, about the environmental impact of wildfires and the measures that need to be taken to prevent future disasters.

We then connected with Kissos, a village in Pelion, and spoke with Father Michail Michalaros, priest of the historic four-domed Church of Agia Marina. The church’s roof needs restoration in order to preserve the ceiling paintings created by renowned icon painter Konstantinos Pagonis. However, restoration work has been delayed because a temporary protective roof must first be constructed.

In the second hour, following the international news with Ivana Djordjevic, we connected with Nea Peramos in Kavala, where Giorgos Dovolos, artistic director of the musical performance “Otan anthropos i… – Learned Melodies of Constantinople – Music of Coexistence,” spoke about what audiences can experience on August 7 and 8 at the Anaktoroupoli Archaeological Site. Featuring prominent musicians, including Christos Tsiamoulis, the performance takes audiences on a musical journey through the sounds of Constantinople, centered on the coexistence of peoples and cultures. The event title and venue are confirmed in contemporary coverage.

In the final part of the program, Nikolaos Ioannidis, President of the Greek Community of Viersen and Surrounding Areas, joined us in the Voice of Greece studio. He spoke about his decision to leave Greece in 2012, amid the economic crisis, life in the small city of Viersen, the local Greek community, Greek-language education and the community’s ties with Greece.

The program concluded with sports news from Antigoni Drakatou.
