During the second hour of “Take Your Time” on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Kostas Karpouchtsis, Deputy Press Spokesperson of the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS), joined the program for a wide-ranging discussion on the latest political developments within the party, as well as the intentions and next steps of former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Karpouchtsis also addressed the prospects for post-election cooperation, the concerns citizens are raising with Tsipras, and the policies the Greek Left Alliance intends to pursue on key issues, including the economy, the rising cost of living, and labor rights. He also commented on the events of the summer of 2015.
Asked about the allegations made against Alexis Tsipras by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Karpouchtsis argued that such attacks are part of the government’s strategy to divert public attention whenever it is called upon to respond to major issues affecting citizens. He added that Georgiadis’ remarks had been criticized even by members of New Democracy and concluded by stating that the Greek Left Alliance would not follow him “into the mud and gutter politics” he believes the minister is attempting to bring into public debate.
