The program “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos hosted director and author Ermis Peristeris and actress Lydia Giannousaki, on the occasion of the documentary theatre production «Άκου μικρέ, ο Πειραιάς βομβαρδίστηκε» (Listen, Kid — Piraeus Was Bombed), staged at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre through 7 December.
The performance is based on first-hand accounts and archival material from people who survived the bombing of Piraeus on 11 January 1944. Its narrative unfolds through short stories of individuals who carried with them the wounds of Asia Minor to Piraeus, as well as of local residents who lived through shelters, sirens, and fear. It tells of people who dreamed amid the city’s ruins, who fell in love in the darkness of the shelters, of young children trained daily to withstand bombardments without ever being prepared for what would happen that day. It is a theatrical tribute to those who lived through the violence of war and to those who still see the traces of those days hidden in the city and insist on remembering.
The dramaturgy and research are by Ermis Peristeris and Spyros Asimenios, with direction by Ermis Peristeris. The cast includes: Spyros Asimenios, Lydia Giannousaki, Thanasis Kafentarakis, and Katerina Mefsout.
