This episode of Voice of Greece’s “Wander Words” took us to Metsovo, one of Epirus’ most striking and historic mountain towns. Our guides through this unique landscape and its layered heritage were:
- Michalis Tritos, Professor of the History of Slavic Churches at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and former dean, who introduced us to the long and fascinating history of the area
- Stergios Kassaros, President of the Metsovo Hoteliers’ Association, who helped us discover Metsovo as it is today and highlighted its main points of interest
- Chrysa Talari, staff member of the Tositsa Foundation, who spoke about Baron Tositsa, his profound contribution to the town, and his connection to the celebrated Metsovone cheese
- Katerina Karra, curator of the E. Averoff Gallery, who presented this exceptional art space—opened in 1988 by Evangelos Averoff and built around his personal art collection—and discussed the gallery’s role and initiatives in the cultural life of the region
