“Faraway words” in Adelaide and Paris | 10.17.22

The “Voice of Greece” and the broadcasting program “Faraway words” traveled, on Monday, October 17, 2022, to distant Adelaide in South Australia, where the journalist Theodore Panagopoulos lives. The occasion for this meeting was the 15th Hellenic Cultural Festival “Odyssey” of the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia, which takes place from September 30th until the end of October at a historic venue for the Greek Diaspora – and not them alone – the Olympic Hall. Mr. Panagopoulos spoke to Natasa Vissarionos and Giannis – Stelios Tzirvelakis about the events that have already taken place, but also about those that will follow, such as the event on October 29, 2022, at the Migration Museum, in honor of the first Greek immigrant in Australia George Tramountanas, and the screening of a documentary featuring the stories of 8 Greek expatriates on October 22, 2022. Cinema, cooking, painting, and sculpture are just some of the things that await the young and old visitors of the festival.

The second stop was Paris, where the show met Seta Theodoridis, president of the Greek Community of Paris and its surroundings, an important and historic Greek community that is facing educational problems. More specifically, the Greek Language Departments are short of teaching staff, a fact that is of great concern to both the guest and the general Greek Diaspora community of France.
