“Faraway Words” with Anastasios Dimitriadis from Switzerland | 13 May 2025

Renowned flute virtuoso and artistic director of the Musica Antica a Magnano festival, Anastasios (Tasos) Dimitriades, was a guest on Voice of Greece.

The conversation was prompted by a series of upcoming anniversary concerts with the Baroque Duo Kiss–Démétriadès, celebrating 50 years of his musical career.
The duo’s very first concert took place on November 7, 1975, in Chambéry, France. Since then, they have performed extensively, both as a duo and alongside other musicians, depending on the repertoire, and have appeared on numerous radio and television broadcasts.

For their 40th anniversary, they toured across France, Italy, Greece, and Switzerland. Now, on the occasion of their 50th, the duo will once again tour France and Italy, concluding with a final concert in Nyon, Switzerland, on November 7, 2025—exactly 50 years since their debut. As Mr. Demetriades shared during the interview, this performance in Nyon will mark his final appearance as a performer, passing the torch to younger talents while continuing his involvement as a conductor and artistic director.

He also spoke about the Musica Antica a Magnano festival, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Held each summer in Magnano, Italy, the festival spans an entire month and brings together musicians from around the globe for a celebration of early music.

Born in Athens, Anastasios Demetriades studied at Athens College and began music lessons at the age of five with Eleni Chors. He later completed his studies at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique in Geneva. Since 1975, he has taught at the Centre Culturel Régional, and from 1978, at the Early Music Society, which he co-founded with Georges Kiss. In 1994, he joined the Conservatoire de l’Ouest Vaudois in Switzerland, becoming its General Director in 2003. Over the course of his career, he has performed in more than 1,100 concerts worldwide, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles. His recordings include Haendel à Londres en 1725 among other notable works.
