On the Tuesday, August 13, 2024, show, we discussed current events, focusing mainly on what happened with the fire in Northeastern Attica. We continued discussing the same topic after reviewing the newspaper headlines with pyrometeorologist Thodoris Giannaros, who outlined the five steps the State should follow to organize forest protection.
Before 11:00, Ivana Djordjevic informed us about what is happening in the Balkans and the rest of the world.
In the second hour, we hosted two women representatives of the Scientific Community. The President of the Greek Pulmonologists Association, Stamatoula Tsikrika, spoke to us about the problems caused by inhaling fine particles released into the atmosphere from a large fire and the precautionary measures that should be taken. Then, Mrs. Kyriaki Sonidou, Director of Primary Care in London and Vice President of the Association of Greek Scientists in Great Britain, discussed with us her decision to leave Greece 17 years ago, the reasons that led her to choose not to return quickly as planned, the National Health System in Great Britain, the problems it faces, and the tragic consequences Brexit has had on the country. Despite all this, the salaries for a Greek doctor there are much higher than in Greece, which is why Greeks who have settled there do not decide to return.
The show concluded with Dimitris Giahanatzis in the studio for the sports news.
