Ioanna Stamatopoulou, goalkeeper of the Women’s National Water Polo Team and newly crowned world champion, spoke on the show “Take Your Time” just hours after arriving back in Greece, following a nearly day-long journey.
She shared her experiences from the tournament and explained how the team managed to rise to the top of the world, overcoming the initial shock of their opening defeat to Hungary and going on to dominate all the way to the final and the gold medal. She highlighted the key elements that made the team stand out.
Stamatopoulou spoke about the tough preparation it took to reach their goal, the support she draws from her teammates, and offered advice to young girls inspired by this victory who may wish to pursue water polo at a competitive level.
She also spoke about the team’s next major challenge: the European Championship in Portugal this winter.
