On the show of Thursday, October 17, 2024, after the introduction with the day’s current affairs, we connected via phone with Beirut, where ERT’s correspondent Elvira Krithari updated us on the latest developments concerning Israel’s attacks in the south of the country and the strikes in Beirut. She also spoke about the large wave of internal migration from the south to the capital and the thousands of displaced people who have set up makeshift camps along the coastal front.
Immediately following the newspaper headlines, we had a discussion with Mr. Spyros Litsas, professor of International Relations Theory at the University of Macedonia and visiting professor at the University of Grenoble, on the latest developments in the Middle East and Europe’s stance on the Refugee-Migration issue.
The first hour concluded with other international news presented by Ivana Djorjevic.
At the beginning of the second hour, we connected for a simultaneous broadcast with Fani Kalathaki, a journalist from ERA Heraklion, while her own show, “Ό,τι της Φανή”, was on air. We learned about the current topics in local news in Heraklion and Crete in general.
The show ended with music and sports. Kostas Iliadis, artistic director of the Underground Youth Orchestra, talked to us about the history of the orchestra, which mainly consists of young people, ahead of their concert at the Athens Concert Hall on Monday, October 21.
Afterward, we discussed the Black Box jazz festival, which begins on Friday, October 18, and runs for three days, continuing for another two days the following week, at the Parnassos Literary Society. Our guest was the festival organizer, Theodoros Bafaloukas, who spoke about how the festival will blend music with the wonderful voices of unique performers.
The show concluded with Antigoni Drakatou covering sports news.
