On the Friday, November 1, 2024 show, following the newspaper headlines, we welcomed analyst colleague Walid Elias in the studio, with whom we discussed the ongoing developments in the Middle East, focusing especially on the Lebanon front.
Just before 11, we connected with Stuttgart, where Georgia Patelou, head of the Greek Language Department at Myhlaker School outside the city, spoke to us about the challenges faced by the school, which serves 80 students with only one borrowed teacher from another Greek community school.
In the second hour, we introduced Orestis Omran, an international lawyer specializing in Economics and Energy, with whom we discussed the issue of brain drain and the efforts to reverse it. He also shared his insights on the necessary conditions to make the Greek economy and job market more attractive for Greeks who left during the crisis years.
In the last part of the show, and just before the sports news, actress and theater educator Valentina Papadimitraki joined us in the studio. We met her at the Chania Film Festival, which showcased her short film Children Yesterday, Grandparents Today. She joined us to talk about her theater production The Shadow of the Fly, a co-production between The Shoe on the Tree Theater and Municipal Theater of Piraeus, set to premiere on Monday, November 4. Papadimitraki has chosen to present the play in four coffeehouses in various areas of Piraeus. Cast: Sofia Liakou, with Tasos Karakykla (who also directed) in the role of the café owner.
