On the Thursday, February 20, 2025, broadcast, after the introduction, the commentary on current affairs, and the newspaper headlines, we discussed political and economic developments with political and economic analyst Ioanna Liouta.
During the second hour, we started with a live connection to Brussels, where Amalia Kapsala, the Education Coordinator of the Brussels Office, spoke to us about the online event organized for Sunday, February 23, at 6 PM, by the Coordinating Offices of Greek Education Abroad. The event is held in honor of World Greek Language Day under the theme: “Greek-Language Education Schools Abroad Honor the Greek Language.”
At the end of the show, our guest in the studio was Mr. Spyros Yamas, Founder of the Elena Iliopoulou Yama Foundation – Research and Scholarships for Cancer Treatment and Prevention. Mr. Yamas has over 38 years of experience in business, holding executive roles as well as being involved in the acquisition and sale of companies and investments in the fields of shipping and real estate. Following the passing of his wife, Elena Iliopoulou Yama, who succumbed to colorectal cancer after a three-year battle and multiple treatment attempts, he established the foundation in 2021, immediately after her passing. His goal was to honor her name, love, and memory while continuing the legacy of hope and determination with which she fought.
The foundation aims to fund scholarships for PhD and Postdoctoral students, as well as researchers who lack self-funding capabilities and are conducting research on the treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of all types of cancer, with a special focus on colorectal cancer.
