The Friday, February 21 episode of Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos focused on culture, following the first half-hour dedicated to current affairs and newspaper headlines.
First guest: Actor Thodoris Prokopiou, who discussed his upcoming performance of “September 3, 1843 – Makrygiannis” in New York for the Greek diaspora (March 1 & 2 at the Thespis Theater). This monologue, written by Thanasis Skroubelos, directed by Nikos Gesoulis, and performed by Thodoris Prokopiou, presents a pivotal moment in Greek history through the perspective of Festas, Makrygiannis’ subordinate. The interview also featured music from the performance, composed by Giorgos Varsamakis.
Second guest: Director Giannis Bletas, who spoke from Rethymno about his play “Omertà”, running at Simeio cultural space since February 6. The play explores bullying and the tragic story of Vangelis Giakoumakis, based on Bletas’ own research.
Final guest: Alex Sid (Alexandros Sidiropoulos), the musician behind the hit soundtracks of Greek TV series “Wild Bees”, “Magissa”, and “I Paralia”. He shared his journey from sound design for major London productions to composing music, his collaborations with Dimitris Nasios (Quasamodo) and lyricist Ourania Pateli, and his musical influences—from his father’s record collection to artists that shaped him. He also recounted the unforgettable moment of working with his childhood idol, Eric Burdon (The Animals), and his experiences in film and television.
